black forest flop

sigh. hours of work, only to turn out as this. i mean, it looks great but it tastes horrible. like sour booze that has been lying around the house for one too many years. remind me never to EVER use kirsch again. ever. what a flop………

    Oh I feel for you! a baking flop is enough of a disappointment (imagining sweet treats, ending up with none), but it hurts even more when it is a recipe that takes up a ton of time 😦

    Sorry to hear about the flop. Black Forest cake is not easy and is definitely time consuming. I should know. Whenever my mom was baking it, we were not allowed in the kitchen. She has had flops on it from time to time (which was a bonus because we got to eat the chocolate layers!).

    But her Black Forest cake is to die for. People paid her to make them but all the requests were too much for her to keep up with regularly.

    My mom uses Kirschwasser from Germany…and it’s delicious. She usually gets a bottle sent to us or when we’re there visiting. She can’t get it in the city anymore.

    Funny thing though…my mom is Filipino!
