steak, parmesan roasted broccoli, chocolate mousse

dsc_0596For Sunday dinner tonight, we consumed steak with balsamic glaze sauce, Parmesan roasted broccoli from the Barefoot Contessa, and chocolate mousse from Fine Cooking.   My kids love broccoli, which is a bit weird.  But weird in a good way. 

Our Sunday dinner discussion was a combination of talking about where we want to go for summer holidays (Nelson?  Tofino?), and Mike spilling an entire glass of Chianti wine all over Ella’s white soccer practice jersey.  THAT went over very well.

But the food was good.  Although the steak was oddly tough, even though it was $19/kg sirloin.  The baby potatoes were just that – baby potatoes, but Ina’s broccoli recipe was just swell.  The kids ate it all up while deftly avoiding the pine nuts. 

The Amateur Gourmet describes the broccoli well.

Ella made the chocolate mousse.   She added a bit more whipping cream with sugar beaten in because I bought 70% chocolate and it wasn’t very sweet.  So this addition sweetened it up – here it is, served in my delightful martini glass (courtesy of Zenari’s).

    My guys will eat broccoli any day, but I’m always looking for ways to spruce it up. Looks goood.

    Yummy. Anytime Ella wants to come and bake at our house – she is welcome too.

    My kids wouldn’t eat broccoli until we told them it was miniature trees…. now they love brocolli!

    Tofino would be great–we would get to see you on your way through. For sure Tofino gets my vote.
