20 worst foods

January 22, 2009

The New York Times has a link to a Men’s Health article on the 20 worst foods.  The foods are all from (mostly) American-based restaurants.  Chili’s Restaurant is a big offender.

I have one of my own Canadian ‘worst foods’ to add, from an experience earlier today at Burger Baron.

Poutine.  Just. Say.  No.

Isaac (my 15 year old son):  Why did you pay six bucks for that and then only had five bites?

Me:  It seemed like a good idea at the time.

What’s your worst restaurant food experience?  Mine is a toss up between breakfast in Cold Lake and dinner at Waddy’s in Vernon BC.

Great, first peanut butter cups, and now poutine. You’re giving me cravings that are bad for my diet!

The poutine (and, really, almost everything else) at Next Act is terrible. It’s a shame, because it’s a fairly nice pub. They just shouldn’t serve food.

Are we talking worst (caloric/nutritent wise) meal, or just plain terrible terrible food. I can only imagine a few of my booze induced donair smorgasbords would top the list of extreme calories, while, the most worst meal I can remember was a pasta dish covered in some icky white sauce with bits of wiener cut up. It was some town Alberta again *shudder*

I’d say any way you want to define ‘gross’ food – that’s it…Waddy’s in Vernon is infamous for bright yellow goopy cold gravy served with pressed and seemingly boiled turkey meat.

We’ve endured a few bad meals last summer at some chain Italian places. So not worth the effort of going out with a newborn and a toddler! I HATE when I spend time and money to go out (which doesn’t happen often) and it sucks.
